Put the People First May Day Block Party
May 1 at 6:00pm
620 Winona St., Knoxville, TN 37917
This event is a potluck, so bring a dish.
Put the People First invites you to come celebrate May Day with activists, workers, and community members in Knoxville!
Over the past year, our coalition has stood with fast food workers and other low wage workers seeking better pay and working conditions from the nationwide Fight for $15 movement, alongside fighting the forces of education reform trying to privatize public education in our state. The commitment of our members and allies to living wage jobs, public education, healthcare as a human right, and full democratic rights for all is worth celebrating. Join us May 1st as we look forward to another year of advancing a people first agenda in Tennessee!
May Day, or International Workers’ Day, is held every May 1st in celebration of the struggles and victories of workers all across the world to secure a better life. Come together to fellowship, learn and support the wonderful work being done in TN that brings us all together (city details below)! We will have food and music, as well as opportunities to fundraise in support of Put the People First activities and anchoring organizations.
See you May 1st!
